Dear Park Hill Families,
see url Eclipse Update:
Thank you Parents and Park Hill Community! We have enough Eclipse glasses for our students and will teach the students how and why to be safe when viewing the Eclipse. We ask that you do this at home as well. We will work to have every student outside at the optimal viewing time, which is 11:47 am. However, please note that this requires the facilitation of 500 students at one time participating in one activity. If we miss the 11:47 am optimal viewing time by a minute or two, I ask that you please understand. If it is imperative to you and/or your child to see the Eclipse at 11:47 am, I strongly recommend you
come to school and help your child get outside and view safely. Please arrive
early enough to do so, as we would expect a lot of parents at this time. We will not have Eclipse glasses for parents, siblings, etc, so if you choose to come to school, please bring your own.
We will allow students to stay inside the Panther Cafe (cafeteria) if they or you elect to. If you wish for your child to opt out of the viewing, please let the office know, or email me directly at email@example.com.
We also know that many of you have chosen to keep your children home on Monday, or are traveling elsewhere for the Eclipse viewing. If you have not done so already, please notify the office that your student(s) will be absent or late on Monday so they will have an excused absence. We wish you safe travels and will see you Tuesday, August 22nd.
Thank you in advance.

A few quick reminders for our Health Office:
* We are fortunate to have Wendy Harper as our school nurse, and she can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please email Nurse Harper with any
concerns, needs, and/or requests for services.
* Medications cannot be distributed at school unless you have spoken with Nurse Harper and completed the appropriate forms.
* Please note, injuries and illnesses will happen in an elementary school, and we do our very best to treat the students immediately and by proper protocol. Our policy is to call home when a child is sick, has a head injury, has an allergic reaction, is bleeding more than normal, and for other reasons as needed. (such as vomiting or fever >100.5) We will likely not call home for minor scrapes, bumps, or bandaids. If at any time you desire a different approach to our communication, please politely let us know.

The Park Hill Elementary Directory is run by the PTSA. Listing your family’s information in the directory is voluntary. DPS requires families confirm their info each year. Once you have signed up, you can access directory info online or with a mobile app.
If you aren’t sure if you have signed up, give it a try. The system will tell you if you are already signed up and will tell you how to update your student’s info. It only takes 2 minutes. No passwords are needed to sign up.
So far, about 57% of students are signed up. We need you to make it a success! Don’t miss out on parties, play dates or carpools.

Attendance and Tardy Expectations for all Parents
If your child is late, it is required that parents/guardians come into the office with your child to sign them in for the day. Any students who come in late due to a dental or doctor appointment, will need a note from the dentist or doctor’s office.
Please call the main school phone number, 720-424-4910, to report an absence for the day letting us know your child’s name, classroom teacher, and reason for absence. Also call the school office if you are going to be more than 15 minutes late at the beginning of the school day.
If your child is going to be away from school for more than a day, we need that information in writing turned into the office before you leave.
We have received a number of phone calls from parents already about being absent on the first day of school because they will not have returned from their summer vacation or they will be somewhere else watching the eclipse. Please call the office and leave a message or send Ann Kurth, firstname.lastname@example.org, a message letting us know why your child or children are not here on the first day. We can record absences in advance.
Here is the link to pay your PTSA membership dues. Your membership dollars help our fantastic school community including funding for paras! There are no volunteer requirements and meetings are on the second Thursday of every month at 5:30 pm. Childcare and chocolate are provided.
