*Safety Concern*

Many of you have likely seen the post on Park Hill FB regarding a late model gray Jeep SUV that tried to entice a child into the car with the promise of candy. Thankfully, the child(ren) are safe, and authorities have been notified. 

Nonetheless, please speak with your children about safety with strangers, especially when walking and biking. If you plan to send your children out without an adult, please have them in groups, not alone.  Thank you in your efforts to keep everyone safe.

Thank you to those parents who donated glasses for the eclipse and those who helped out on our first day of school during the eclipse.  We are so thankful to have such a supportive, generous and involved community!

The 2017/2018 Back to School Night was a huge success!  Our staff is thankful for the opportunity to connect with parents and share their hopes and expectations for the school year.

Attendance and Tardy Expectations

If your child is late, it is required that parents/guardians come into the office with your child to sign them in for the day.  Any students who come in late due to a dental or doctor appointment, will need a note from the dentist or doctor’s office.

Please call the main school phone number, 720-424-4910, to report an absence for the day letting us know your child’s name, classroom teacher, and reason for absence.  Also call the school office if you are going to be more than 15 minutes late at the beginning  of the school day. If your child is going to be away from school for more than a day, we need that information in writing turned into the office before you leave.

The Park Hill Elementary Directory is run by the PTSA. Listing your family’s information in the directory is voluntary.  DPS requires families confirm their info each year.  Once you have signed up, you can access directory info online or with a mobile app.

If you aren’t sure if you have signed up, give it a try.  The system will tell you if you are already signed up and will tell you how to update your student’s info.  It only takes 2 minutes. No passwords are needed to sign up.

So far, about 2/3 of our students are signed up. We need you to make it a success!  Don’t miss out on parties, play dates or carpools.

Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run will be held at Park Hill this fall for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Registration opens August 25th at 4 pm and space is limited.  Please see attached flyer for more information on dates and times.

Destination Imagination

Denver Public Schools is proud to bring Destination Imagination to your school! Destination Imagination is preparing Colorado’s kids to be the innovators of the future by combining the arts, sciences, and technology with creativity, teamwork, and problem solving.  

In order to be successful and offer this opportunity to our  students, we also need adult volunteers as well. If your student is interested  in competing this year, please consider co-managing a team!

Park Hill PTSA Updates:

Come one, come all! Our first PTSA meeting is Thursday, September 14th at 5:30 in the library. This month we will be making sure committees are fully staffed and will be presenting updated by-laws for a general membership vote in October. Everyone is welcome! As always we will have childcare and chocolate available.

SAVE THE DATE!!  

Friday, September 15th starting at 5:00 pm! Direct Giving is one of Park Hill Elementary’s most important fundraisers of the year, and a super fun FREE community event. We’re screening The Secret Life of Pets and there will be bouncy houses and food trucks aplenty! This is open to everyone in the neighborhood, so please invite your friends, family, and neighbors! Any donations made that night go directly to your child’s classroom THIS YEAR. Our teachers have their wish lists, so let’s please help them obtain their items! If you’d like to start shopping early please visit  http://parkhillptsa.com/teacher for each teacher’s Amazon Wish List. More details to follow, but for now we’ll settle for a “See you there!”

Girls on the RUN

**This program is separate from regular Park Hill enrichment programs. It is an outside organization which starts registration and classes before Park Hill’s enrichment.                                                    www.girlsontherunrockies.org

Registration opens on August 25th at 4 p.m and fills up very quickly!

Girls on the Run is a place where all girls can be themselves.  We stretch ourselves physically, mentally, socially and emotionally.  We have an innovative program that combines training for a 3.1 mile run/walk race with a fun, health education lesson plan.  This program promotes individual achievement and self-confidence.  Girls gain self-esteem and learn healthy lifestyle habits while training for a 5k run/walk race.

Practice meets every Monday and Thursday at 2:45-4:15pm between the weeks of September 11th through November 13h.  The final 5K run in on Nov 12th at Washington Park.

Fee: $170 (includes 18 practices, 5k entry and a t-shirt!)

      Click on “Registration Open”.

      Find and select your school name in the dropdown box.

      Complete the registration.

      Check your email for a registration confirmation email.  This means registration is complete!
