Park Hill PTSA News:

Spaghetti Dinner Success!
Last week’s Annual Spaghetti Dinner was a successful night for our community.  We served over 460 people in 2 hours and raised over $2,600 for the school!!  Thank you to Noodles & Co., Tables, Cake Crumbs, Oblio’s and Matt Snyder (General Manager of Panzano’s) for their generous donations of food and Date Night gift certificate, respectively.  With over 300 raffle entries sold, Ms. Wren was the lucky winner of the Date Night raffle.  A BIG thank you to the incredible 5th grade Girl Scouts Troop for serving the dinner, the 3rd grade Girl Scouts Troop for bussing tables, all the kiddos and parents who helped make the event a success, and to Erika Gipson for her amazing work planning and organizing this year’s very successful event.  See you there next year!

Message from Principal Burdette Regarding New Kiss and Drop Program to Start in January
Hi PHE parents!  Starting in January, the PTSA and I are working to implement a new KISS AND DROP program for our morning drop off routine.  The location for the KISS AND DROP will be on the west side of the school starting at 18th and Elm. Please refer to the attached map and directions for clarity.  As you know, the morning drop off can be very busy, and at times, unsafe. I am asking all parents who wish to simply drop off their children without getting out of their cars to please use the KISS AND DROP area.  For those who wish to park and escort their students onto school grounds and into the building, please continue to use the other areas as noted on the map.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this and supporting our efforts to make our school safe. (The PTSA would like to thank Brad Cooper, Aisha Acosta Makee, and Will Stockton for brainstorming ideas and working on the implementation plan for the Kiss and Drop program).

Wednesday Pick Me Ups for Teachers and Staff
Here is a simple way for our parent community to show appreciation to our teachers on a weekly basis. Please sign up to bring a sweet treat, savory treat, paper products, or to come in after school and get everything cleaned up. These do not necessarily need to be breakfast items although they can be. For savory, we were thinking veggies and dip or pretzels (anything that does not fall into the dessert-y category). Homemade or from the store. We would love to have your contribution in the teacher’s lounge around 7:45 AM. We ask that you drop them off in the morning so we do not have people in and out of the building throughout the day. Clean up could be right at dismissal at 2:45 PM.  Sign up here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/409084caba723a57-wednesday2  Thank you for contributing!

Snow Crew Volunteers Needed
How would you like to help clear the snow and ice on the sidewalks around the school if we ever have winter weather again? We have a snow blower and a plow just waiting for volunteers (and some snow). The great thing about snow is that it usually doesn’t sneak up unannounced. So on mornings when there is snow and ice you would get a text asking if you are free to help clear the sidewalks. If we get a half a dozen volunteers, the chances are you’d only be called into service once a year. Although you are welcome to call dibs on the snow blower every time. Please contact Michelle Scott (michelle@creativewares.com) to be added to the call list, and a huge thanks to Will Stockton for heading up the crew!

Park Hill Elementary Grocery Card Program (only King Soopers for now).

This fundraising program is extremely simple…. just grocery shop at King Soopers. King Soopers donates 5% of your grocery purchases to Park Hill PTSA when you use your re-loadable grocery cards.  There is NO extra cost to you for purchasing and using the grocery cards.

HOW TO OBTAIN A KING SOOPERS CARD

1) Get a card from Marcy Eastman (720.436.5494) or Ann in the main office.  (I will also be on the playground before and after school)

2) Then take your card to the store with you and add funds at the register before you check out.  You still earn your personal credit card perks. The current purchases generate approximately $5000/month for PHE.

For more information, please don’t hesitate to contact me anytime.
