Park Hill Friday Folder, December 21, 2017

Dear Park Hill families,

I would like to personally thank the volunteers that helped set-up, take down, and run the Book Fair during the day and/or Wednesday night. Those volunteers were Andrea Modica, Laura Christenson, Andrea Johnson, Robynn Kuhns, Catherine Powers, Jana Steele, Doug Aylesworth, Phyllis Shobe, Joel and Alexis Sanger, Christy Walker, Ty and Shannon Campbell, Vincent Modica, Christine Martell, Jared and Sara Holmes, Veronica Ware and Linette Cabral.

And of course… a big thank-you to all of you that financially supported the fair.
You made the Book Fair a great success!

Together we raised over $15,000 dollars using the Scholastic merchandise. The library will receive a portion of those funds to continue to update the Park Hill library collection.

Our school is truly blessed to have such a fantastic support system.

Have a wonderful holiday season!

The DPS SchoolChoice season is almost here. The SchoolChoice enrollment process for the 2018-19 school year begins Feb. 1, 2018 and ends Feb. 28, 2018 at 4 p.m.

DPS believes all students should have the same access to quality schools, regardless of their background or where they live in Denver. That’s what SchoolChoice is all about.

If your student is going in to ECE, Kindergarten, or Sixth Grade, you will need to complete the choice process.  In addition, any DPS student who is not currently enrolled at a Denver Public School, or wants to attend a school other than their automatically assigned neighborhood school can take part in SchoolChoice.

SchoolChoice is as easy as Find, Apply, Register!

  • Find the best school for your student with the Great Schools Enrollment Guides (available at schools), the new School Finder online tool at, and by touring schools of interest.
  • Apply by using the new online application at between Feb. 1 and Feb. 28, 2018 at 4 p.m.
  • Then Register to attend your school when you receive your school placement notification in early April, 2018.

The process will be easiest for families who already have existing Parent Portal accounts because the new Choice system will auto-populate much of your information.  If you do not have a Portal Account, click on ‘Getting Started’ to create an account.

Message from Principal Burdette Regarding New Kiss and Drop Program to Start in January
Hi PHE parents!  Starting in January, the PTSA and I are working to implement a new KISS AND DROP program for our morning drop off routine.  The location for the KISS AND DROP will be on the west side of the school starting at 18th and Elm. Please refer to the attached map and directions for clarity.  As you know, the morning drop off can be very busy, and at times, unsafe. I am asking all parents who wish to simply drop off their children without getting out of their cars to please use the KISS AND DROP area.  For those who wish to park and escort their students onto school grounds and into the building, please continue to use the other areas as noted on the map.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this and supporting our efforts to make our school safe. (The PTSA would like to thank Brad Cooper, Aisha Acosta Makee, and Will Stockton for brainstorming ideas and working on the implementation plan for the Kiss and Drop program).
