Welcome back, parents!  We hope you had an enjoyable holiday break.  We are full steam ahead on auction planning, and we need your help!  Remember, our auction is the largest and most important fundraiser of the year for PHE and everyone’s involvement is encouraged.  Do you have a connection to a vacation home/condo (in state or out of state), tickets to sporting events/concerts/theater, or have a fun experience you can throw our way?  We are in need of appealing auction items, so think about your family members, work colleagues, etc. and please use the online donation form to donate!  Or, reach out to Jake Higdon ( or Sara Holmes ( directly.  Thanks for your help in making this the most successful auction yet!

Visit for donation information, our Auction 101 handbook and more!

As you may know, this is our first week using Elm from 18th to 19th as our dedicated Kiss and Drop lane. There were quite a few cars that took advantage of our volunteers (Thank you Brad Cooper, Aisha Makee, and Will Stockton!), standing at the ready to assist getting students out of their cars and safely onto the playground. We hope that more families will spend the extra 30 seconds to drive around the block to Elm and safely drop off their students. Not only will your kids get to the playground safely, the Kiss and Drop will help ease dangerous congestion on Fairfax.

Part of what made this morning a success was the number of volunteers out directing cars and/or literally opening doors and unbuckling kids to keep everyone moving.  We could use more volunteers. It’s just 30 minutes and you’ll see a lot of your friends and neighbors. Please considering signing up at

The DPS SchoolChoice season is almost here. The SchoolChoice enrollment process for the 2018-19 school year begins Feb. 1, 2018 and ends Feb. 28, 2018 at 4 p.m.

DPS believes all students should have the same access to quality schools, regardless of their background or where they live in Denver. That’s what SchoolChoice is all about.

If your student is going in to ECE, Kindergarten, or Sixth Grade, you will need to complete the choice process.  In addition, any DPS student who is not currently enrolled at a Denver Public School, or wants to attend a school other than their automatically assigned neighborhood school can take part in SchoolChoice.

SchoolChoice is as easy as Find, Apply, Register!

  • Find the best school for your student with the Great Schools Enrollment Guides (available at schools), the new School Finder online tool at, and by touring schools of interest.
  • Apply by using the new online application at between Feb. 1 and Feb. 28, 2018 at 4 p.m.
  • Then Register to attend your school when you receive your school placement notification in early April, 2018.

The process will be easiest for families who already have existing Parent Portal accounts because the new Choice system will auto-populate much of your information.  If you do not have a Portal Account, click on ‘Getting Started’ to create an account.

We are starting the Fit for Life Club!  From January to March, students from 1st to 5th grade can record their physical activities and return the completed calendar for a prize.  Students do not get the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity time during the school day and need to find ways to be active outside of school. Please encourage your child to participate in this program. Copies of calendars from January to March on also found on PE website,  Also, student will receive their calendars on their first day back in PE.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
One of the main goals of Physical Education is to encourage kids to be Fit for Life! Children need 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity every day to be healthy. Unfortunately, students do not get that opportunity at school every day, so they need to be active outside of school.  Also, children are developing habits now that can last a lifetime.

Each month (January to March), your child (1st to 5th grade) can bring home a Fit for Life calendar from PE. On the calendar, your child can keep a record of physical activities outside of school. They are able to fill in each day’s box with an activity.  There are outdoor and indoor physical activity ideas listed on the calendar, but any moderate to vigorous physical activity is great!

The children are to return the calendar at the end of the month with their name, their teacher, and your signature.  Students who bring the calendar back completed with at least four activities each week will be members of the Fit for Life Club and get a small prize.

Thank you for helping your children at Park Hill become FIT for Life!

Physical Education

Estimados padres y tutores legales:
