DIRECT GIVING PARTY / OUTDOOR MOVIE NIGHT – FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 21

Park Hill Playground – 5pm festivities, music, food trucks, 7:30pm Movie featuring “Sing.”

Direct Giving is finally here!  The current forecast is for sunny skies and 75 degrees – perfection! This is your opportunity to donate money directly toward your teacher’s wish list items for the 2018-19 school year. We also will be hosting our annual Park Hill Elementary Outdoor Movie Night, featuring more food trucks, bounce houses, music, and a movie under the stars! Please invite your friends and family even if they don’t attend Park Hill as this event is open to all. Another way to give to your child’s classroom directly is through their teacher’s Amazon Wish List. You’ll earn Park Hill Elementary a little cash if you set Park Hill Elementary as the charity attached to your Amazon account too! Find the teacher wish lists on the Park Hill PTSA website.

OCTOBER COUNT

October Count is the official student membership count for all Colorado public school districts mandated by the Colorado Department of Education.  Denver Public Schools receives an annual average of $7,400.00 in per pupil operating revenue for each student attending in our district.  This year the official count day is Wednesday, October 3, 2018.

We appreciate the attendance of our students each and every day.  However, on October 3, we are asking families to bring their students to school on time and avoid scheduling doctor and dentist appointments on that day if possible.  We can count a student even if they are only here for part of the day.  Please do not bring your student to school if they are sick.  We will be able to count them the next day they return if they are here by October 10.

Every classroom with perfect attendance on October 3 will receive an extra recess (time to be determined by classroom teacher) and each student in the classroom will receive five special roar tickets.

Help us celebrate October Count with great student attendance!

Tuesday, Oct. 2 at Central Park Recreation Center, 9651 M.L.K. Jr. Blvd.

GREATER PARK HILL FOOD BANK

GPHC will be continuing the weekend food program this school year, in an effort to reduce food insecurity for students and provide additional nutritional support to help them be successful at school. The program provides a bag of food consisting of two breakfasts, two snacks, and at least two lunch items, including a fruit and a vegetable. Bags will be delivered to Park Hill Elementary on Thursdays for distribution to children on Thursday and/or Friday at the end of the school day.

Every student at Park Hill Elementary is able to participate in the program.  We only require a parent/guardian signature on the parent/guardian consent form to enroll in our program. Any family with a student at Park Hill Elementary may opt in or out of the program as they wish. See the end of this bulletin for the parent/guardian consent form (return to the school office).

In addition, in our ongoing commitment to support the Greater Park Hill Foodbank, we will be collecting canned foods and dry goods in a bin located in the cafeteria.

Thank you in advance for your donations!

A REMINDER FROM THE LUNCH ROOM

DESTINATION IMAGINATION

Denver Public Schools is proud to bring Destination Imagination to our school!  Destination Imagination is preparing Colorado’s kids to be the innovators of the future by combining the arts, sciences, and technology with creativity, teamwork, and problem solving.

In order to be successful and offer this opportunity to our students, we require 1-2 adult volunteers to manage a team. On-site and online training is available at all times! If your student is interested in competing this year, please consider co-managing a team! Think your student is interested?
