HELP PHE GET MORE SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL

Park Hill Elementary school is working with Denver’s Departments of Public Works and Environmental Health on a Safe Routes to School program. The Safe Routes to School grant provides both educational and infrastructure opportunities. Our change.org community petition to Implement Traffic Calming Measure in Park Hill suggests infrastructure improvements including: flashing lights, additional stop signs at intersections, and “Yield to Pedestrians It’s the Law” signage.  The educational portion of the grant will include library resources and partnering with a nonprofit for a student safety educational program.

In order to be eligible for the SRTS grant we need a significant response from the PHE community. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey so we can reach our goal!

We need your help to secure this grant!

HALLOWEEN COSTUME PARADE AND PARTIES

We will celebrate Halloween on October 31 with a parade starting at 1:30 pm and classroom parties afterwards.  Parents are welcome to come at 1:30 pm for the parade and parties.  We ask that you do not send your children in costumes depicting blood and/or gore or with any type of play weapon of any kind (guns, knives, light sabers, slingshots, bows and arrows, axes, swords, etc.).  In addition, we ask that we have NO CLOWN costumes please.  Remember that masks should be off while walking or biking to school for safety.  Children should come to school in regular school clothes and then change into their costumes at the designated time given by the classroom teachers.

PARENT MIDDLE SCHOOL MEETING

A group of parents are meeting on Monday, October 29 at 6:00 pm to discuss continuous improvement of the Greater Park Hill / Stapleton middle school enrollment zone to support high-quality, integrated schools that offer local options. By focusing on small incremental improvements, without getting lost in the bigger discussions of charter schools, the enrollment zones in general, or closing schools, we hope to create more positive outcomes for all. This is parent lead meeting; there is no association to the PTSA or Park Hill School.
