Dear Park Hill Parents:

Over the past few years, I have grown increasingly concerned about traffic in our neighborhood. I know many of you have felt the same, and have shared in a variety of ways. Our PTSA has helped tackle this with the implementation of the Kiss and Go, as well as Mr. Morgan and Ms. Mildred serving as crossing guards.  In addition, one of our parents and community members has taken this initiative to the next level. My goal in sharing this link with you is to a) make you aware that this is taking place, and b) confirm my commitment to the safety of your children.  As Principal, I support most, if not all, measures in keeping our students and adults safe.  Thank you!

Spark Change Letter to Parents – 10-5-18

PARENTS NIGHT OUT

Hit the town while your child comes back to school for a crazy fun night!  ALL students 1-5 will be together. Kindergartners, Preschool and potty-trained siblings will be together in Amy Maes’s classroom. Our main activities will be a dance in the gym, movies in the auditorium, Bingo with prizes in the cafeteria, a quiet room for board games and reading and painting with Ceramics in the City! New this year – 5th graders get access to their VERY OWN 5 GRADE ROOM! Your child will have so much fun – they won’t even know you are gone! Do not wait too long to sign up– space is limited! The first child is $30 and each subsequent child is $10. Quite a babysitting steal! You can sign up in our school store at iheartparkhill.com or there are forms in the office.

PANTHER POST

Kathleen Isberg is working with students again this year to produce the Panther Post. The students are at it interviewing, videoing, picture taking, creating music, movies, slideshows, and writing. Each week the staff of reporters are posting to the website: phpanternews.wordpress.com. Check out the recap of the ice cream social or discover a new weird science fact. Coming soon see interviews with staff new and old. What is Mr. Parker’s dream job? See what a good job this team of reporters is doing learning how to create an appealing fun website.

PARENT WORKSHOP – SPANISH

Ever considered learning Spanish? Now is your chance: Better Late than Never Español with Maestra Acosta! This class will be for beginners or those with a little experience who would like the opportunity to communicate more in Spanish. We will meet on Thursdays at 6:30 pm in the PHE library, beginning October 4.  We will acquire conversational language, practice work and travel-related communication, but ultimately the class will be tailored to meet the needs of our students. ¡Hasta Pronto!

MAGNET TESTING

If you think your student would be best suited for a Highly Gifted and Talented (HGT) magnet school (a school or track within a school that is established for HGT learning), verses a more traditional program with HGT/GT supports like Park Hill, you might consider having your student tested. Find more information about DPS HGT/GT at https://studentequity.dpsk12.org/gifted-talented/

Click on the links below to sign up for fall magnet testing. In-district students will be tested at their current school during the window of November 5-19, 2018. All homeschool, private, and out of district students will be tested on Saturday, December 1 at Morey Middle School.

Deadline for fall testing applications: Friday, October 12, 2018
