Panther Pages, April 18, 2024

Happy Thursday PHE Families:

A friendly reminder that we do not have school this Friday, April 19th.  Hope everyone enjoys their 3-day weekend.

As the weather warms, we will spend more time outdoors. We have informed students that they are not allowed to bring any "hard" equipment from home, including baseball bats, baseballs, lacrosse balls, cleats, etc.  We are allowing "soft" equipment, such as a lacrosse stick with a tennis ball for playing catch or a wiffle ball with a wiffle ball bat.  Please be mindful of this as your student leaves the house each day - thanks!

A week from Friday we will be celebrating the Super Mega Awesome Dance Party.  Students have been working hard to raise a few dollars for the school, and we will celebrate their achievements with a big party on Forest Parkway!

Have a great weekend PHE!

-Ken Burdette, Principal

Second lunch Information

Our lunchroom manager, Mr Dennis, throughout the year has tried to accommodate kids requesting second lunches if they are hungry.  Students that did not bring money or have money on their myschoolbucks.com account have been using the Principal’s Fund, but, unfortunately, that fund has been depleted.  Please check in with your student to see whether they are eating second lunches and if so, please add funds to their account or have them bring $2.50 for lunches.  The first lunch will continue to be free, and we encourage students to grab a breakfast if they are hungry in the morning!

Menu Item change

There will be a menu item switch next week per Mr Dennis in the lunchroom.  Tuesday, April 23 will now be teriyaki chicken and Friday, April 26 will be pizza.

PHE Earth Day Beautification Project - April 21

Thanks to everyone who has signed up so far for the beautification event this Sunday from 10:30am-1:30pm.  It looks like the weather will be great for the event.  The volunteer / donation link is still open if you are still interested in lending a hand.  We will be planting a few trees, weeding, adding mulch, and repainting a few items around the playground. We can still use a few bags of soil even if you cannot make it.  Hope to see everyone there!

Reminder: YMCA Information for the 2024-25 school year

Anti-Idling Campaign

Earth Day is next week on April 22nd! One of the most relevant environmental issues in the Front Range is air pollution. The Front Range has suffered from severe ground-level ozone pollution for decades, which can aggravate respiratory and cardiovascular illnesses, including asthma. Much of the region’s ozone pollution comes from transportation, namely, driving cars! It just so happens that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change also stem from transportation. So, as we teach our students about the planet and ways to protect it, consider showing your kids how easy it can be to walk, bike or take public transit to get around. It’s also very easy to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions by turning your engines off instead of idling your vehicle.
