Good morning PHE:
I wanted to take a moment to thank all of the parents, guardians and extended family members of students that have been coming in to help out in classrooms, the library, drama and other places throughout the building. On tours we get to (humbly) brag about our amazing community, and these volunteers are a huge part of that. Thank you on behalf of our students and staff!
The Auction is quickly approaching. I haven’t had a chance to look through my closet for my ruffled, powder blue tuxedo, but I hope to soon. In all seriousness, I hope I can count on seeing everyone at this free event that supports several critical roles at our school. I know the PTSA and volunteers are working incredibly hard on making this a fun and successful event for all!
Cheers to this warm weather sticking around and happy Friday!

Kindness Campaign
Yesterday was the kickoff of the students’ February Kindness Campaign. This campaign was created by our 5th grade student leaders to help encourage and acknowledge kind behaviors throughout each grade level=. We ask that the kindness campaign be extended at home. Please make sure to talk about and recognize kind acts at home that you are seeing!
Lunch Reminder
A reminder to check in with your students about lunchtime. While the first meal is free, a second meal does incur a fee. You can add funds to your student’s account at myschoolbucks.com. Please have a discussion with your student(s) if you do not want them going back for additional items (pizza and chicken nugget days seem to be the most popular).
Equity Corner
COVID-era laptops made a dent in the digital divide. Now the real work begins.

PE @ Park Hill: Indiana Jones - Asia!
This year Indiana Jones is traveling to the Continent of Asia! We want to honor different families' heritage here at Park Hill! Do you have a family connection or have lived in one of the many countries of Asia? Let me know and I can have your child share one or two interesting things about their country. Do you know some upbeat songs from that region? If I can find the song on Apple Music, I can play it as the students travel the obstacle course. Or maybe bring in a picture of your child in the country or wearing traditional clothes? Or anything else you can think of? It is a PE class and things can get wild during Indiana Jones, so nothing of value should be brought in. Indiana Jones will run from Feb 27th to March 7th.
**For those of you who are new to Park Hill, Indiana Jones is a large obstacle course during PE classes, where students must try daring obstacles, such as swinging from ropes, balancing in unique ways and crossing “dangerous” terrain!
Reminder: Enrollment & Planning for 2024-25
Thank you to everyone that has updated their enrollment plans in the SchoolChoice system for next school year! We are asking K-4th grade families to login to the new DPS SchoolChoice system (with your DPS ParentPortal email and credentials) and let us know plans for the 2024-25 school year.
All 5th grade students continuing on to middle school, incoming kindergarten and ECE-4 students or those looking to transfer to another DPS school should be making their DPS school elections in the SchoolChoice system as well. The Choice window closes on February 12.
SchoolChoice hotline (720-423-3493).
Reminder: Valentines Day Information
- Students may bring Valentines and pass out to classmates. Each student in the class should receive a Valentine if their child is going to do this.
- We are not dressing up in costumes, but festive attire is always welcome (ie - wearing red, hearts, valentines headbands, etc).
- If families have a spare set of Valentines, the office can always use a few extra sets in case other students aren’t able to participate but would like to
Reminder: YMCA Summer Camp
Sign up for YMCA summer camps opens to the general public on Monday, February 5. Park Hill will not be hosting a camp this year, but we are told there will be nearby camps at Palmer Elementary and Clayton Early Learning center.
