Happy Friday Park Hill Panthers,
I am looking forward to seeing many of our families at the Auction tonight. The Auction raises critical funds that directly support your student’s educational and emotional development. I want to take the opportunity to thank our amazing group of PTSA volunteers that have donated countless hours to organizing and hosting the event.
As a reminder, the auction kicks off at 6pm at the Doubletree Hotel on MLK and Quebec. Please Register Here in advance. There are all kinds of items available, including Buy-A-Shares to different parent hosted themed parties, vacation packages donated by families, and even special experiences at school for your students such as Teacher Time events, and my personal favorite: Principal for the Day.
I hope everyone has a fun evening tonight. Please make sure to be safe and carpool if possible.

Your Voice/Tu Voz student survey coming soon
From the district: The “DPS Your Voice / Tu Voz” Student Survey is nearly here. As we end our school year, we want to know how well we did to make our students feel safe, healthy, welcomed, engaged and involved. Results identify successes and highlight opportunities to improve school outcomes so that Every Learner Thrives.
All third- through 12th-grade students are invited to participate. The survey invite will be emailed to your student’s DPS email on Monday, March 4 and have until Friday, March 15 to answer the questions.
Individual student responses are kept private and anonymous. Your voice is essential to helping DPS do better! If you prefer that your student not participate in the March survey, please click here to opt them out by Friday, March 1.

Marade rescheduled to February 27
The annual Martin Luther King parade (Marade) for Pre-K, Kinder and 1st grade students has been rescheduled to February 27. The parade will start at Turtle (WH Ferguson) Park at 9:45am and from there make their way to Montview Church where Dr King spoke 60 years ago. Students will meet up with other students from Park Hill schools during the event. Parents are invited to participate! In solidarity with our Primary grades, our PHE students in grades 2-5 will march around the school perimeter that day at 10am.
From the Black Excellence Committee
PHE’s BEC is sponsoring a global initiative at the local level, the Black Children’s Book Week from 2/26-3/1. Click here for more info on this amazing opportunity and event. What do we need from you? We are asking for mystery readers! Each day a parent or special adult will arrive to read a story to a classroom. You will confirm day and time with the school, submit a small bio for your teacher to read to the class in hopes that the kiddos can guess who you are. We will have books to choose from, or, of course, you are welcome to bring one from home that you love.
Interested? Please see the link for available time(s) in each classroom. Send an email to kburdet@dpsk12.net to request a time. You will receive confirmation from the team. Thanks!
Reminder: Parent Volunteers needed for Drama Sets
Our third and fourth graders will be performing a selection of Greek myth plays in April. We are asking parents to help bring the plays to life by making or providing set pieces and props. You can sign up to bring particular props and/or sign up to help create some bigger set pieces, which will take place after school on a day to be determined. Additionally, if you would like to donate towards the materials needed for the larger set pieces, you can Venmo @DevonJames. The sign up can be found here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080F45AAAA2BABFD0-47601417-greek.
Reminder: School Supply Drive for Newcomer Students
In conjunction with the teachers union, we are joining forces to support our students by organizing a Newcomer Student Support Supplies Drive. Multiple schools are collecting essential items like winter clothing and hygiene products to donate to Denver Public Schools community hubs, directly benefiting families in need. Park Hill Elementary has been asked to collect headphones and reusable water bottles (links are just suggestions - lightly used/new condition please). There will be donation boxes by the front door and outside room 102 (across from the music room) or you can ship them directly to the school. Please feel free to donate other items listed that other schools are also gathering - here. If you have any questions, reach out to (erica_atchison@dpsk12.net).
Reminder: DPS Summer Connections
Registration for DPS Summer Connections is open. Summer Connections is a free, five-week academic program that is open to all incoming first through fifth-grade DPS students. The program runs from June 17th -19th and focuses on preparing elementary students for future success. Bus transportation may be provided but is not guaranteed.
