Good morning PHE:
The PHE Auction is quickly approaching! Aside from this being our biggest fundraiser of the year, it is always a fun night where staff, parents, and community members can come together to support our educational mission here at PHE. We have shared over the past few weeks of how the proceeds from this directly benefit all of our students through a variety of ways including mental health supports, reading and math interventions, gifted and talented studies, nursing, and full-time paraprofessionals in classrooms. We do everything we can to stretch each and every dollar raised to supplement our tight budgets.
Our amazing PTSA team has been working hard to make this year’s event special. If you haven’t done so yet, please register on the Auction website, where you can get an idea of the buy-a-share themed parties and other fun items and opportunities that will be available that evening. In the PTSA message below there are opportunities to register for the auction, volunteer, donate items, and send along your old prom photos for the night of the event! This event is free to attend and welcome to anyone in the PHE community.

No school on February 16 & 19
Please note the President’s day weekend is extended this year due to a Teacher planning day. There will be no school on Friday, February 16 and Monday, February 19. Enjoy the break!
Lost and Found
The Lost and Found is overflowing. We will do a cleanout of everything next Wednesday, February 14. All unclaimed items will be donated to a local school that is in need of coats and clothing. Please stop by the school if you want to take a look for any lost items. We’ve asked teachers to have their classes come by as well to look through items.

Reminder: Enrollment & Planning for 2024-25
Thank you to everyone that has updated their enrollment plans in the SchoolChoice system for next school year! We are asking K-4th grade families to login to the new DPS SchoolChoice system (with your DPS ParentPortal email and credentials) and let us know plans for the 2024-25 school year.
All 5th grade students continuing on to middle school, incoming kindergarten and ECE-4 students or those looking to transfer to another DPS school should be making their DPS school elections in the SchoolChoice system as well. The SchoolChoice window closes on February 12!
Reminder: Valentines Day Information
- Students may bring Valentines and pass out to classmates. Each student in the class should receive a Valentine if their child is going to do this.
- We are not dressing up in costumes, but festive attire is always welcome (ie - wearing red, hearts, valentines headbands, etc).
Mindfulness at Park Hill
This week’s and last week's Mindfulness practices used yet another helpful tool to aid in bringing about calm, focus, and coping...Breathing Sticks! Students were given materials and guidance to make these simple, yet colorful breathing aids. Made of two chenille sticks and five to eight beads, these Breathing Sticks give the students a tactical prop to guide their breathing practice. This week, we reviewed the use of the breathing sticks as well as using fingers, breathing buddies, or hands on bellies to help with the Mindfulness practice. We also discussed using whatever tool works best for them and many of them liked "Star Breathing". You can watch the video "Star Breathing” with them as a refresher at home. You can access the entire video library HERE. If you have questions or suggestions, reach out to me at SustainableThree@gmail.com or #303-898-9496. ~"Miss Liz"
Indiana Jones - Asia!
This year Indiana Jones is traveling to the Continent of Asia! We want to honor different families' heritage here at Park Hill! Do you have a family connection or have lived in one of the many countries of Asia? Let me know and I can have your child share one or two interesting things about their country. Do you know some upbeat songs from that region? If I can find the song on Apple Music, I can play it as the students travel the obstacle course. Or maybe bring in a picture of your child in the country or wearing traditional clothes? Or anything else you can think of? It is a PE class and things can get wild during Indiana Jones, so nothing of value should be brought in. Indiana Jones will run from Feb 27th to March 7th. You can contact Mrs. Horeis at kcupp@dpsk12.net.
**For those of you who are new to Park Hill, Indiana Jones is a large obstacle course during PE classes, where students must try daring obstacles, such as swinging from ropes, balancing in unique ways and crossing “dangerous” terrain!
