Happy Friday PHE Families:

While it may have been a shorter week given the Monday Holiday and the Wednesday Snow Day, it was still quite the busy week. Thank you to all of our students, teachers, and parents who participated in the Park Hill Marade on Tuesday. Our Kindergarten and 1st grade students were able to partner with students from our neighborhood schools in honor of Dr. King and our commitment to equity. Our 2nd-5th graders participated in a PHE Marade around our school as well.

In addition, we successfully completed our semester-required Emergency Drills on Tuesday. We recognize these drills may be scary to some students, parents, and even staff; nonetheless, they are required, and our students and staff handled these extremely well.

Hope everyone has a restful weekend, and look forward to seeing you back on Monday.

- Ken Burdette, Principal

Enrichments begin next week

If your student is enrolled in an Enrichment for this Spring, the courses begin next week. Kindergarten and 1st grade students have a paraprofessional that will hand deliver them to their appropriate classroom. Student pickup will be on the back playground. Please double check your Enrichment dates and times to make sure you pick up your student on time!

Kindness Campaign - Hey Park Hill Families!

From our 5th Grade students: This year we are doing another Kindness Campaign. Maybe your students told you about it from last year. The Kindness Campaign is just one of the ways we spread kindness around the school. Each classroom gets a pad of “Kindness Slips,” where whenever you see someone spreading kindness around the school, you write it down. The campaign is going to run for about four weeks, starting 2/1, ending 2/28. There will be prizes for people that show kindness. This is how it works: The kindness slips will be passed around the school and every day, starting 2/1, there will be a kindness quote read aloud on the loudspeaker. The Kindness Campaign is to show kindness throughout the school. We are angling for more kindness, and less trying to win. Last year too many people were focused on winning, not kindness, and we want to change that. There will be a video posted on the PHE website where students will define what kindness means to them, and how they’ve seen kindness around the school. This year we are going to make sure every class participates in the Kindness Campaign, and no student goes unnoticed. We are also making sure everyone knows about the KIndness Campaign, so more kindness will be spread. To do this we are going to display the Kindness Slips around the school. There will be a frozen treat at the end of the campaign, for everyone. Thank you! - 5th Grade CARE Committee
