Happy Friday PHE families,

Thank you for participating in the PHE coat drive. We are especially grateful for your commitment to donating coats to Frontline Farmers. We have surpassed our goal of 1,000 coats by 87! Which means you donated 1,087 coats! Donating to these farmers means a lot to us and to them. Thank you! We cannot believe how many coats we got. This coat drive was such a success. Our original goal was 500, but we reached that goal in the first week, so we doubled it to 1,000. Give yourself a pat on the back, Park Hill. We are so grateful for your support in the coat drive and hope you have a great Thanksgiving break! Thank you again,

The 5th Grade CARE Committee and Mr. Cowen,

(Community Accountable for Respect and Empathy)

No school next week, November 21-25

Enjoy your Thanksgiving Break and safe travels for those headed out of town!

ECE Changes for 23-24 School Year

Park Hill and DPS have engaged in conversation regarding our school's ECE program for the 2023-2024 school year. Currently, our ECE program is a half day program, only 1 of 3 in DPS. After careful consideration and discussion, we have collaboratively decided to shift our ECE program to a Full-Day program beginning in August 2023. Please note, ECE students will not be eligible for before/after care programs and enrichments.

We will have additional details before the Choice window opens in January, including classroom capacity and enrollment priorities.

PHE Book Fair

We will have a Scholastic book fair December 5-9th. Contributions from the Book Fair are used to buy books for the library.

Volunteers help the fair run smoothly and it is a lot of fun to see all of the excitement the fair brings. Ms Baldwin can use help during the fair and during setup and break-down. Setup will be on December 1st. The fair will run during school hours on December 5th-9th (staying open until 4pm on Dec 6-7th). Breakdown will be at the end of the day on December 9th.

If you are free during the day and would like to help out, please email the PTSA if interested - volunteer@parkhillptsa.com.

School Choice window for 2023-24

If you have a child who will be starting ECE, Kindergarten, or will be transferring to PHE in the fall 2023 (or starting middle school), the School Choice window will open January 13-February 14, 2023. Parents or Guardians will need to login with their Parent Portal account to make their school selections.

New students will have a pre-enrollment window starting in mid-December where they can register their family information to gain access to Parent Portal accounts. There will be more information to come on the process as we receive it.

Lunar New Year Dragon Parade and Celebration

This year we are planning for the first annual Lunar New Year Dragon Parade and Celebration at Park Hill Elementary. The dragon parade will be on February 10th at 3pm. Please mark your calendars.

We need parents to donate laundry baskets and red silken cloth as each class will make a dragon in art class to be used in the parade. Please come to an informational meeting after school on December 2nd at 3:25 (in the auditorium at PH) to learn more about the festival and how you can help make it happen! Please look for a signup genius in the coming weeks to donate laundry baskets, bubble wrap and red cloth. Contact Lauren Nonino (lauren_nonino@dpsk12.net) for more information or with questions.

School Merch The PTSA is excited to launch a new online store for Panther gear. The new store has a huge variety of clothing options, which should appeal to the whole family. Check it out and use the discount code below for 10% off.

PARKHILL10AS Speaking of Shopping… Did you know you can raise money for PHE just by continuing to shop where you already do? Some organizations allow you to sign up to provide a % of your purchases back to a cause of your choice, and it just so happens, our school can be one of those causes? Some of the big ones we’d like to highlight are:

  • Amazon Smile, as we enter the holiday gift giving season, why not let some of those purchases give back to Park Hill? Click on the link to set it up, and then log in via Amazon Smile instead of the standard Amazon link.

  • Shopping for food for Thanksgiving? You can also give back when you shop at King Soopers. Click on the link to set up Park Hill in your King Soopers account.

  • Givebacks is another great way to give cash back to Park Hill via a variety of shopping and dining options!

All of the highlighted links above and in the side bar will take you right to the set up page! Join Us! The Park Hill PTSA is looking for a volunteer to serve as our communications chair! This position will help with content for everything from our website and this newsletter to email and social media! This is a new position, so there is opportunity to help shape what this role can be!
