Happy Friday Park Hill Families!

The snow on the ground this morning gave us a reminder that Winter is coming.

  • Make sure your kids are dressed appropriately for the weather. Please label hats, gloves, jackets, boots.

  • With the colder weather we see more families choosing to drive to school. Utilize the kiss and drop lane on Elm Street. If you choose to park, leave extra time to find a spot and walk your children into school.

  • Remember that Sunday is daylight savings - enjoy that extra hour of sleep on Sunday as clocks fall back.

  • If you or a family you know may be in need of some extra food supplies during Thanksgiving, please reach out to me or a staff member.

-Ken Burdette, Principal

Winter Coat Drive

5th grade students are organizing a coat drive to support the non-profit Frontline Farmers. This organization is helping to supply jackets to essential worker families that support our local agriculture communities. They are asking for new and gently used coats. We have already collected ~30 coats in just 2 days.

Art Fundraiser

Our annual Original Works Art Fundraising Brochures have been sent out to families. Our artist of inspiration was Jim Dine - the heart master! For each order processed, our school gets a portion of the proceeds for the purchase of art supplies and to supplement the new kiln costs! If you have any questions about the online ordering process, please e-mail: lynn_pravecek@dpsk12.org.

Thanks so much for supporting the arts!

Equity Corner

Hello Park Hill Family-

The Black Excellence Committee and I have discussed many ways to share ideas.

I would like to start a Reading Corner, using books from our library. This is one of the books that I would like to share with you this week.

MAGIC LIKE THAT by Samara Cole Doyon

In this book, these are a few of the ways one confident girl describes her natural hair.

As she waits for her mama to create her new hair style, she remembers the many ways she has worn her hair in the past.

No After-school YMCA on November 11th

For those families utilizing YMCA, please note that there will be no after school care on Friday, November 11th. Please plan accordingly.

Thanksgiving Camp - Nov 21-23 – Cheyenne Fencing Club

En Garde! We are having a blast teaching Park Hill students fencing during Enrichments. We are excited to offer a fencing camp during the upcoming Thanksgiving Break at our club on Colfax and Ivy. Up to 3 days of camp are available on Nov 21-23 from 10am - 3pm (early drop off and late pick-up are available). It is a fun time of swordplay at Cheyenne! Keep learning the skills and rules of fencing and competing against peers in fencing bouts on a real fencing piste. Above all, learn to play hard, respect others, focus on the task at hand and build self-esteem. Fencing increases reflexes, mental acuity and conditioning. PTSA

Businesses Supporting Park Hill Elementary PTSA

There are several ways to support our school!

  • Auction: Donations to the auction can come in various forms - gift certificates, experiences, items, swag, goodie bags/baskets, etc.

  • Restaurant Night Out: The PTSA is looking to partner with local restaurants to allow us to have fundraiser nights where a portion of the proceeds will be donated to our school.

  • Sponsorship: We have several sponsorship levels that allow businesses to invest in our school and demonstrate its commitment to improving the life and education of every child at Park Hill Elementary.

  • Teacher Appreciation: Does your business offer a service or product that would benefit teachers? We’re always looking for creative ways to show our teachers and staff how much we appreciate their hard work.

  • Other: Do you offer something unique or something we haven't thought of yet? Please drop us a line and let us know. Alternatively, if you are a biz in Park Hill and need some support, we are happy to help where we can.
